For several infrastructure works including T.Nagar corridor complex, rainwater drainage plant in extended areas and so on, Chennai Corporation seeks loan from World Bank.

Under the Chennai Corporation work extension areas, implementing rain
water drainage plant for a distance of 1000 km so as to get rid of flood damage
will cost around Rs.4000 Crores. Detailed plan report is in hand for this
project. To reduce the congestion in T.Nagar, Mylapore and so on, new corridor
complex have been planned and as the first step, corridor complex plan will be
getting implemented in T.Nagar and a detailed plan report is available in hand.
This project will be costing more than Rs.50 Crores.
Moreover, furnishing a multi-storyed vehicle parking zone in T.Nagar
Pashyam Street, an air corridor connecting the T.Nagar bus stand and Mambalam
Railway station plan also has been included in the Chennai Corporation’s
infrastructure construction upcoming projects.
In addition to the state and central government funds, foreign finance
organizations support is highly needed to pursue these infrastructure projects.
The Chennai Corporation has involved in requesting for its financial help from
World Bank of India.
During the meeting held up in Rippon Building, the Corporation Commissioner Vikram Kapoor represented a detailed report on the financial help of the infrastructure projects to the representatives of the World Bank.
