Jaya acquitted of her disproportionate assets case

Chief of AIADMK party Jayalalitha was acquitted of the disproportionate assets case. After the verdict, Jaya’s lawyer with a sigh of relief says the verdict is a big relief. There were scenes of jubilation in the court and in Chennai as well following the announcement of verdict. All her supporters say Truth has won and are left overwhelmingly happy across the state. Commenting on this, the BJP leader Subramanian Swamy says the judgment is surprising and shocking who filed the petition against Jaya claiming about her corruption activities.
Before the announcement of verdict, all defence lawyers were thronging to the court and the announcement was expected at 11 am. Many policemen were deployed to increase protection in Chennai. This day was believed to be the decider day for Jayalalitha, the Chief of AIADMK whether or not she will be jailed for the disproportionate assets case which is 18 years old. This is widely called DA case in short. The case included Jaya and four of her associates including VK Sasikala Natarajan, Sudhakaran, and J Ilavarasi. Following an imprisonment, they were released on conditional bail and as the sentence was suspended by the Supreme Court.
