As Aadhar Card has become an indispensable necessity, the activity of taking photographs of the applicants is being expedited.
The preparatory activities for releasing Aadhar Cards to applicants have been going on since the last 2 years. This is scheduled to come to an end in December.
The Joint Director of the Department of Census Mr. Krishnarao explained that 5.60 Crore persons have joined so far. 5.22Crore persons have been given Aadhar cards.
32 operators are deployed for data entry.The photographing activity for Aadhar card is 83.36% complete.
In the state of Tamil Nadu, Perambalur District ranks 1st among the districts in the act of applicants taking photographs. 98.82% work has been completed in this district.
Perambalaur, Ramanathapuram, Nellai, Thoothkudi, and Pudhukkottai are the districts where over 90% activities have been completed.9 districts have completed 80% to 85%.
Thirupur district stands lowest in progress at 72.74%.
Chennai district has completed 75.68%.
7 districts have a progress rate below 80% completion. Extension of time has been given up to October for completing taking photographs. Because of this extension, public can visit the centres at their convenience without tension and get this done while avoiding standing in long queues.
There are prospects of this time extension to be extended up to December.

Corporation Ward office, Corporation’s 15 regional Offices, 10 Taluk Offices, Collector’s Office and Ezhilagam are the venues in Chennai district where the activity of taking photographs is in progress.
