At a time when the sun is burning the whole of Tamil Nadu, there is severe demand for drinking water. The Tamil Nadu Transport Department has decided to produce 1 lakh 70 thousand mineral water bottles.
In connection with this, the transport officials mentioned, The scheme is run by the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation, with a production plant in Gummidipoondi in Thiruvallur district, on a 55-acre land that belongs to the Institute of Road Transport (IRT), a subsidiary of the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation.
The water bottles produced here are supplied in an all the bus stations throughout Tamil Nadu. It is being sold for Rs 10 per bottle. On behalf of Chennai Metropolitan Transport Department, the water bottles are supplied in T Nagar, Koyambedu, Adyar, Egmore, Besant Nagar , Mylapore, Vada Palani, Tambaram, Pallavaram, Chromepet and Kelambakkam.
During the winter season there was short requirement of water. At that juncture water bottle was produced according to the demand. During the recent floods, the Tamil Nadu Government supplied free Amma Kudineer to the people. Now there is heavy demand of water due to the scorching heat. Now 1,50.000 thousand bottles are being sold. From next week it has been decided to produce I Lakhs 70 thousand bottles.
