The Chennai Metro Rail project was designed and executed mainly in order to reduce the acute traffic congestion in the Chennai Metro City and also to facilitate faster travel. Because of the project activities, the traffic had to be converted into a 1-way mode in important roués like Anna Salai Poonamallee High Road,
Presently, all the construction work of the Metro Rail section covering 10 km distance between Anna Salai section AGDMS and Washermanpet has been completed and set for the safety test.
Subsequently, the activities of electric supply facility, ticket counters setting up, passengers` waiting arrangement, etc., are in progress along with the roads laying.
Now, the 1-way traffic which was introduced 6 years ago when the Chennai Metro Rail Project commenced, is all set to be back to 2-way traffic mode.
