Don`t get surprised in the future if you come across a new name for the Thirumangalam metro station in Chennai!!
The Thirumangalam metro station in Chennai is being used by many commuters. This metro station is making amazing news now.
The news that has come out now is that CMRL would be naming this metro station by adding IOCL Indian Oil Company Limited as prefix. It is now revealed that IOCL would prefix its name with the station`s name. The contract would be there for the next 3 years.
In addition to attaching its name to the Thirumangalam metro station, IOCL would be also using the unoccupied area in and around the metro station for sticking posters and for installing banners.
The contract for 3 years has been signed already with IOCL and IOCl is now working on pefixing its name to the metro station. This was as per an officer from CMRL. He spoke about how there would not be a colour change in the metro station but how there would be some noticeable changes that would be done neat and at the metro station.
It is worthy to mention that semi-naming would not lead to changes in the announcements made at the metro station. The aesthetics of the metro station would be changed by IOCL according to the TN culture and heritage.
It must be noted that since 2019 CMRL has semi-named 22 metro stations out of total 40 in phase one. The CMRL has a semi-named Nandanam metro station with Muthoot Finance, Thousand Lights metro station with Equitas Bank and Saidapet metro station with City union bank etc. As a part of non-fare revenue, CMRL has earned an average of Rs 16 cr per year.
In Chennai, other metro stations in places like St Thomas Mount, Vadapalani, Ashok Nagar and Arumbakkm etc are yet to be semi-named. Collaborations have been invited by CMRL.
