CMDA to construct idle parking space - Omni buses to Bengaluru, Hosur, Dharmapuri etc to shift to Kuthambakkam near Thirumazhisai!!
There is some important news for those who travel frequently to places like Bengaluru, Dharmapuri, Hosur and to other northern parts of TN!!
It is now said that the operation of omni buses to Bengaluru, Dharmapuri and other northern parts of TN would be shifted to Kuthambakkam near Thirumazhisai soon. The CMDA or Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority has decided to construct an idle parking space at Kuthambakkam near Thirumazhisai.
It was mentioned by an official from CMDA that the idle parking space for omni buses would be created on the land that has been earmarked for future expansion near Omni Bus Finger (collective bus slots). Idle parking space has been requested at Kuthambakkam Mofussil Bus Terminus premises by Omni bus owners association. The CMDA has decided now to construct idle parking space based on the request.
On 25 acres of land, a new bus terminus is being constructed at a cost of Rs 427 cr. In the future after the bus terminus starts to function, then from Kuthambakkam the buses would operate to places like Bengaluru, Hosur, Dharmapuri, Tirupati etc. There would be 41 shops at the bus terminus and as many as 8 ticket booking counters would be set up for the ticket bookings for omni buses.
Other important features of Kuthambakkam bus terminus:
The new bus terminus would have separate toilet facilities for differently able persons and trans- persons etc. Good news is that feeding rooms would also be available for mothers. The bus terminus could accommodate 1811 two wheelers and 234 four wheelers. Point is that the Kuthambakkam bus terminus would be fully air-conditioned.
It is known that at present the omni buses to places like Bengaluru, Dharmapuri etc are being operated from the Koyambedu omni bus terminus. Not to forget that omni bus operations to southern places have shifted to KCBT already. In Mudichur, the planning authority is constructing a bus stand for omni buses. It is now brought out that once Kuthambakkam bus terminus starts functioning CMDA would remove the Koyambedu mofussil bus terminus and omni bus stand and redevelop the land.
