In order to perk up voter’s awareness towards the Lok Sabha elections, we have planned to conduct several turnout campaigns in many public places including parks and beaches, stated by the Chennai District Election Office.
The District Election Office has chalked out strategies to identify and
bridge gaps in voter turnout in the city and they are working towards reaching
10% hike in the voter’s count than previous year.
We have chosen the parks and beaches, since nearly 4000 residents will be
visiting each day; also we have planned to communicate the election messages in
the form of the folk arts like ‘Thappattam’, stated by the election officers.
The key role in the awareness creation program, have been initiated by
the Civil Society Organizations.
Media’s Touch: The media cell and media centre in Chennai City has already in action to
detect and control the paid news towards the Lok Sabha election, after their
meet with the Chennai District Election Office Officials.
Commencing this week, the media cell l will heap on screening of all news
stories on electronic and social media.
Several media officials and representatives of the political parties will be presenting in the meeting on Tuesday and will be discussing on conducting sensitization programs on media certification.
