The water level in the Poondi Reservoir, Tiruvallur, has risen to 34.05 feet out of its maximum capacity of 35 feet. In response, authorities have announced the release of 1,000 cusecs of water from the reservoir starting today (Dec 12) at 1:30 pm.
Officials have indicated that the water release may be increased gradually depending on the inflow into the reservoir.
As a precautionary measure, a first-stage flood alert has been issued to residents living along the banks of the Kosasthalaiyar River. People are urged to stay vigilant and follow instructions from authorities to ensure their safety.
