Chennai Airport witnessed two separate incidents on Thursday as flights to Mumbai and Kochi returned after encountering technical problems.
- Indigo Flight to Mumbai:
An Indigo Airlines flight scheduled to depart for Mumbai at 4:40 am with 160 passengers and eight crew members faced a technical snag while taxiing on the runway. The pilot promptly alerted the control tower, and the aircraft`s doors were opened for inspection. Passengers remained on board as engineers addressed the issue. The problem was resolved after two hours, and the flight successfully departed at 7:45 am.
- SpiceJet Flight to Kochi:
A SpiceJet flight en route to Kochi, carrying 84 passengers and six crew members, experienced a mechanical malfunction mid-air. The pilot immediately informed the control tower, and emergency landing protocols were activated. The plane landed safely at Chennai Airport, and passengers were disembarked without incident. They are currently being accommodated in airport lounges while alternative arrangements are being made for their travel.
Both incidents were managed effectively, ensuring the safety of all passengers. Authorities are investigating the causes of the technical issues.
