The All India Bullion, Jewellers and Swarankar Federation (AIBJSF) has said that they will continue their strike indefinitely. The jewellery industry body is rallying against the imposition of 1% excuse duty on non silver jewellery, which was announced during the Union Budget earlier this month. They have also said that they will hand over the keys of their shops to Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.
The AIBJSF had organised a big rally at the Ram Lila Maidan in New Delhi last week. They will be continuing their strike. However, three other major associations, the GJF, ABJA and GJEPC, called off their strikes after an assurance from the Government that there will be no ‘Inspector Raj’.
Speaking about their announcement, a senior AIBJSF official said, Nothing less than a complete roll back of excise duty levied on jewellers is acceptable to us.
