Medway Hospitals Launches "Thuppuradhu Thappu" Campaign to Raise Awareness on Public Spitting

In a major initiative to promote public health and hygiene, Medway Hospitals has launched the "Thuppuradhu Thappu" campaign, designed to raise awareness about the serious health risks associated with spitting in public spaces. Translating to "Spitting is Wrong," the campaign brings together prominent Tamil film and television personalities in a collective effort to advocate for a cleaner, healthier community.
 
The Honourable Minister of Health and Family Welfare of Tamil Nadu, Thiru. Ma. Subramanian, endorsed the campaign by releasing a special video message. In his address, he emphasized the significant health hazards posed by public spitting and applauded Medway Hospitals for leading this crucial public health initiative.
 
Marking the culmination of the campaign, garbage compactor trucks branded with campaign visuals were rolled out today from Medway Hospitals, Kodambakkam in the presence of Dr. Palaniappan, Chairman and the staff of Medway Hospitals, in a symbolic gesture of the movement’s efforts to spread its message across Chennai.
 
The campaign features a series of compelling videos, with notable contributors such as Television Personality Mr. Gopinath, Tamil Cine Star Mr. Yogi Babu, Tamil Film Director Mr. Venkat Prabhu, Actor Mr. Mime Gopi, Actor Mr. Vichu Vishwanath, Carnatic Vocalist Dr. Seerkazhi Sivachidambaram, Actor Ms. Rethika Srinivas, Actor & Film Producer Mr. Subbu Panchu, Actor Ms. Devadharshini, and Playback Singer Ms. Srilekha Parthasarathy. Their collective voice seeks to reach every corner of the community, highlighting the importance of ending the unhygienic practice of public spitting.
 
A short film was also produced as part of the campaign, featuring Dr. Palaniappan, who passionately advocates for the eradication of this harmful habit.
 
This social responsibility initiative, fully funded by Medway Hospitals as part of their Public Health Awareness Program, reflects the hospital’s ongoing commitment to community welfare and their role in spearheading efforts to promote a cleaner, healthier environment.
