From today, Easterlies to bring rains in Chennai

The upper air circulation would be pushing the rains to the coastal districts in TN and due to this there would be rains in Chennai from Monday. For the next 48 hours, thunderstorms and moderate rains are expected and there would be heavy rains in the southern districts of TN.

Mr. N. Puviarasan, director, Area Cyclone Warning Centre, RMC, Chennai, explained about how due to the circulation of the atmospheric overlay showers and thunder showers would be expected in the coastal districts of southern TN. In the northern inner districts in TN, there would be dry weather.

Information gathered is that the return of the Easterlies (broad upper air circulation) would push the circulation towards Sri Lanka and towards coastal districts such as Nagapattinam, Thanjavur, Thiruvarur, Mayiladuthurai, Cuddalore and Karaikal etc. In the next 72 hours, there would be rainfall with thunderstorms in these districts.

Partly cloudy skies in Chennai:

It was mentioned that the Chennai city would have partly cloudy skies in the next 48 hours. Weather blogger, Mr. K. Srikanth threw light on the light to moderate rains from Monday that would hit the coastal places belonging to TN. He added that from late Sunday, there would be rains and in the morning there would be warmer weather.
