Light to moderate rains would be there in the city of Chennai in the next 48 hours. The reason for the rains would be due to the continuation of upper air circulation along the Sri Lankan coast. Till 12th January, southern districts in TN would have heavy rainfall. Isolated places in TN would get thunderstorms.
Mr. Puviarasan, director, Area Cyclone Warning Centre, RMC Chennai mentioned that over the next 24 hours most places in TGN would see light to moderate rains . In districts like Thoothukudi and Ramanathapuram, heavy rains to very heavy rains would be there.
Various districts like Thiruvarur, Thanjavur, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Sivagangai, Tirunelveli, Kanniyakumari, Pudikottai and Madurai etc would receive heavy rains. It is said that thunderstorms with light to moderate rains would take place at many places. Dry weather would be prevailing in the rest of TN. There would be cloudy skies in Chennai with light to moderate rains. The temperatures would be between 29 degrees Celsius and 24 degrees Celsius in Chennai.
Mr. K. Srikanth, weather blogger was of the view that parts of south TN would get moderate rains and along the coast mostly. He added that moderate to heavy rains might be there between delta districts and south TN.
