In the upper layers of the atmosphere over South India, there is a prevailing situation where the easterly and westerly winds meet each other. Due to this phenomenon, there are prospects of mild to medium rain with lightning and thunder in a few places in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikkal on the 24th, 25th, and 26th of April. On the 27th of April, there are prospects of mild to medium rain in one or two places in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikkal.
Regarding the Chennai Metro City and its suburbs, there are prospects of mild to medium rain with lightning and thunder in one or two places. According to the Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre Director Pa. Senthamaraikkannan, as of 8.30 AM on the 23rd of April (Sunday, yesterday), the maximum rainfall recorded in cm in some places were: Kallakkurichi Gomuki Dam – 13, Vaalparai, Mohanur – 6 each, Thiruvarur, Sriperumpudhur – 4 each.
