The Chennai Meteorological Department has forecasted rainfall in 16 districts of Tamil Nadu, including Chennai, Thiruvallur, Chengalpattu, Kanchipuram, Villupuram, and Cuddalore. Other districts likely to experience rain include Ariyalur, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Thiruvarur, Thanjavur, Pudukkottai, Ramanathapuram, Nellai, Kanyakumari, and Tenkasi.
This rainfall prediction is valid until 1 PM today, attributed to a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal, which is expected to intensify into a deep depression by 5:30 PM.
Residents in these districts are advised to stay alert and take necessary precautions, especially those in low-lying areas prone to waterlogging. Fishermen are also cautioned against venturing into the sea during this period.
