For the next 48 hours, the weathermen have predicted light to moderate rains in some areas of Chennai. It must be taken into account that there is a well marked low pressure hovering over Comorin area and adjoining equatorial Indian Ocean.

It is important to mention that Chennai city might be heading towards a week long dry spell as the low pressure system moves towards Arabia Sea in the next 48 hours.

The condition of the sky is likely to be generally cloudy and light to moderate rains or thunder showers are likely to occur in some parts. The maximum temperature is likely to be around 33 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature is likely to be around 26 degree Celsius. This was according to the RMC’s 48 hour forecast for the Chennai city. In the next 24 hours of time, well marked low pressure is likely to intensify into a depression over Lakshadweep- Maldives areas and adjoin southeast Arabian Sea. It is said that this would likely move north-westwards across Lakshadweep islands and intensify into deep depression during subsequent 24 hours.

The state of TN and Chennai city would get rains due to the outer bands of the system. This was according to the popular weather blogger Mr. Pradeep John. The fact is once the system moves away to the west coast then Chennai might experience a week long dry spell.

It must be noted that there might not be rains between 3rd November and 10th November and after 10th November rains could occur due to the system. In the coming days, the low pressure is likely t move from Indo-China region towards Bay of Bengal. The system is likely to move towards northern Bay of Bengal closer to Myanmar and would block the north-easterly winds and it might not bring rains to coastal TN.
