Due to a low-pressure system in the atmosphere, moderate rain is expected in certain areas of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry today, August 23rd.
In a press release issued yesterday by the Director of the Chennai Meteorological Research Center, Mr. P. Senthamaraik Kannan stated that an upper-level atmospheric circulation pattern is currently present over Tamil Nadu. Consequently, there is a likelihood of light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms in select areas of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal on August 23rd (today).
Furthermore, from August 24th to August 28th, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal may experience light to moderate rainfall in various locations.
Over the past 24 hours, until 8:30 AM yesterday, several regions in Tamil Nadu received rainfall, with Kalangaraivilakam in Chennai recording 4 cm, Vandavasi in Tiruvannamalai district receiving 3 cm, and Thalivasal in Salem district, Bhavani in Erode district, and Chengalpat each receiving 2 cm of rain.
Additionally, there were reports of moderate rainfall yesterday morning in various parts of Chennai and its suburbs. Widespread rain was observed in areas including Kilpakkam, Egmore, Nungambakkam, Nitakarai, Koyambedu, Valasaravakkam, KK Nagar, Saitappettai, Ekkaduthangal, and Choolaimedu.
