Heavy rains lashed Chennai late Monday night, causing water stagnation in several areas, including Guindy, Vadapalani, Arumbakkam, Koyambedu, Mogappair, and T Nagar. Suburban areas like Poonamallee, Thiruverkadu, Avadi, and Ambattur also experienced moderate rain with thunderstorms.
The maximum temperature is expected to be around 35°C, with a possible rise of 2 to 3°C in isolated areas of Tamil Nadu.
Fishermen are advised to avoid the Gulf of Mannar, Southeast coastal areas, and Kanniyakumari sea until September 27 due to wind speeds of 35-45 kmph, with gusts up to 55 kmph.
