The low-pressure area that has formed over the southeast Bay of Bengal and the Indian Ocean along the equator continues to persist in the same location, delaying its intensification into a deep depression. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the system is expected to strengthen over the next 24 hours.
As the weather system develops, Tamil Nadu is bracing for heavy rainfall over the next four days. The IMD has issued a yellow warning for Chennai on December 12, predicting intense spells of rain in the capital city.

Apart from Chennai, at least 12 other districts in Tamil Nadu are expected to experience significant rainfall. These include:
