Last day of peak summer, Kathiri veyil today

Today (Monday, 28th May) is the last and concluding day of the peak of this year’s summer, with the scorching heat intensity severely affecting all, known as Agni Nakshatram or kathiri veyil.
It is an annual routine that the scorching peak summer puts people to great hardships with the temperature touching as high as 108 Degrees. Hot winds will blow across. However, this year’s peak summer turned out to be entirely different.
The peak of summer, Agni Nakshatram, commenced on 4th May and concludes today. The maximum temperature recorded during this summer’s peak, quite surprisingly, was less than 100 Degrees.
There were summer rains in south Tamil Nadu due to the phenomenon of thermal convection. This reduced the intensity of the scorching heat to a certain extent.
Now that the peak period of Agni Nakshatram is over, the intensity of heat will not be that severe henceforth.
With the onset of monsoon rainy season set to start, it is expected that the intensity of heat will come down further.
