Vellore district to be divided into 3 separate districts!

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister E. Palniswamy, during his address to the public on the Independence Day (Yesterday, Thursday, 15th August), announced that the present Vellore district will be trifurcated to form 3 separate districts.
Vellore happens to be one of the largest districts in the state. With the above announcement, 2 new districts are set to be created in the state of Tamil Nadu.
This would increase the total number of districts in the State of Tamil Nadu to be 37!
The 73rd Independence Day of our country was celebrated in a grand manner yesterday. On this special occasion, the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister E. Palaniswamy hoisted the flag for the 3rd time in the Chennai Fort and then addressed the public.
The Chief Minister started from his residence at 8.30 for the important ceremony and reached the War Memorial located at Rajaji Road at 8.47 AM.
He was received by the Chennai Traffic Police Motorcycle Squad and took him in.
After reaching the Fort, he watched the parades of the different squads. After this, the Chief Secretary K. Shanmugam welcomed him with a bouquet.
The Chief Secretary introduced the Higher officials of the Army, Navy, and Air Force, DGP, and the Chennai Metro City Police Commissioner. After this, the Chief Minister entered the Fort and the battlement stage and hoisted the National Flag on a pole of 150’high and then addressed the public.
During his address, he made several important announcements. Subsequently, he distributed the various awards including Kalpana Chawla Award, Abdul Kalam Award, etc. The recipients of the award had a photo taken with the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister. He got down from the battlement stage and the distributed sweets to the differently-abled boys and girls students who were seated in a special ‘Pandhal’ set up in the Fort Complex.
Earlier, he announced the decision to trifurcate Vellore district into 3 separate districts.

The public, Legislative Assembly Member, and the state government ministers have all appealed to the state government of Tamil Nadu to divide the large Vellore District. The state government of Tamil Nadu scrutinized and reviewed this appeal.
Accordingly, for better administration purposes, Vellore will be divided into 3 districts – with headquarters in Vellore, Tirupathur, and Ranipettai respectively.
The Chief Minister further announced that a new Taluk will be formed in Vellore District with Keezhvazhiththunaiyan Kuppam ( K V Kuppam) as the headquarters.
Presently, Vellore happens to be a very large district with 13 Taluks. There are 11 city administr5ations and 16 Panchayat Administrations. There are 3 divisions – Vellore, Ranipettai, and Tirupathur.
Now, following the Independence Day news announced by the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Each of the above 3 divisions will attain the status of a separate district.
Vellore division has the taluks of Vellore, Katpadi, Gudiyatham, Anaikkattu, and Peranapattu.
Ranippettai division has the taluks of Arkonam, Wallaja, Arkadu, and Nemili.
Trupathur division has the Taluks of Tirupathur, Vaniyambadi, Ambur, and Natrampalli.
So, the above 3 divisions make for a total of 13 Taluks.
Among these Taluks, Arcot Taluk has got the highest number of 102 revenue villages, Katpadi has 85 Revenue villages. Wallaja has 83. Ambur and Nemili have 77 revenue villages each. The newly announced Taluk of K. V. Kuppam has 39 village administrations.
Thus, counting from the month of January this year until now, announcements for 5 new districts have been made. Kallkurichi District was formed from the Villupuram district and the announcement was made in January. Later, during July, the Chief Minister announced the formation of Tenkasi district from Thirunelveli district and Chenglpet district from Kanchipuram District.
Thus, the number of districts in the state of Tamil Nadu increased up to 35.
Now, 2 more districts have been formed trifurcating Vellore including Ranippettai and Tirupathur.
With this, the total number of districts in Tamil Nadu State has increased to 37 from 35!
