Lunar Eclipse today: Details of Temple closures during the eclipse!

As a Lunar Eclipse is set to occur today (Tuesday, 8th November), the corridors of most temples in Tamil Nadu except some temples including Thiruthani will remain closed during the lunar eclipse.

A Total Lunar Eclipse is set to occur today (Tuesday, 8th November). This can be seen in the eastern and northeastern parts of India.

However, the starting period of this lunar eclipse cannot be seen anywhere n India! The stages of the Total and partial Lunar eclipse can be seen from the Eastern part of India including Kolkata, Guwahati, Kohima, and Agartala.

Only the later and concluding stages of this lunar eclipse can be seen from the other parts of India!

As per the Indian Standard Time, the lunar eclipse is set to start at 2.39 PM. The Total Lunar Eclipse is set to commence by 3.46 PM and concludes at 5.12 PM.

The full eclipse can be seen only from Kohima, Nagaland at 4.29 PM. In Chennai Metro City, it can be seen at 5.39 PM.

Due to the Lunar Eclipse, the temple administration has announced that the corridors of the Coimbatore District Aanaimalai Goddess Masanaiamman temple will be closed on 8th November (Tuesday) from 2.00 PM. The corridors will open the next day (Wednesday, 9th November) at 6.00 PM as usual.

At the Vellore Sripuram Golden Temple, the temple corridors will be closed from 12.00 Noon until 8.00 PM on 8th November (Tuesday). The temple corridors will open by the next day morning at 8.00 Am on the next day (Wednesday, 9th November) and the devotees will be allowed, as per the administration announcement.

At the Lord Balasubramania Swamy temple in Thiruvallur District, Sengundram, Siruvapuri, the temple administration has informed that the devotees will be allowed inside the temple only up to 12.00 Noon on 8th November (Tuesday).

It is traditional for the temple corridors to remain closed during the Lunar or solar eclipse periods as per the Agama Rules.

As such, Lunar Eclipse is occurring today (Tuesday, 8th November).

As such, the corridors of 23 temples including the Madurai Meenakshi-Sundaeswarar temple will be closed today (Tuesday, 8th November). The Lunar eclipse commences at 2.39 PM and concludes at 5.19 PM/ As such, at Madurai Meenakshi Amman temple, Annabishekham will be performed after 7.00 AM and the temple corridors will be closed from 9.30 AM till 7.30 PM.

Devotees will not be permitted for Darshan during this period.  Jama Poojai will be performed at 7.00 PM and then the temple corridors will be opened by 7.30 PM.

In the Lord Subramania Swami temple at Tirupur District, Kangayam, temple corridors will be closed by 2.00 PM. A notice has been put up regarding this in the temple!

At the famous Pazhani Lord Dandayudhapani temple, all sanctum sanctorum of the Gods and Goddesses will be closed by 2.00P on 8th November (Tuesday, today).

ON conclusion of the Lunar Eclipse, they will be opened by 7.00 PM. Devotees will be allowed! After the `Mel Samproksana Poojai,` Sayaratchai Pooja will be performed and the procession on a golden chariot will commence. Night-time Poojas will all be performed. This procedure will be followed in all the supplemementary temples as announced by the temple administration.

Chennimalai Lord Murugan Temple: Temple corridors will remain closed from 2.00 PM until 7.30 PM on 8th November.

Tirupathi: The Thirumalai-Tirupathi Devasthanam Board (TTD) has announced that the temple corridors will remain closed from8.30 AM until 7.30 PM for 11 hours. For all other temples under TTD, a similar procedure will be followed.SO, THE DEVOTEES ARE ADVISED TO PLAN THEIR TRIPS ACCORDINGLY!

Temple which will be open during Lunar Eclipse

In the Temple of Lord Muruga at Thiruthani, TE TEMPLE CORRIDORS WILL REMAIN OPEN EVEN DURING the LUNAR ECLIPSE AND AS SUCH DEVOTEES CAN HAVE DARSHAN AS ANNOUNCED BY THE TEMPLE ADMINISTRATION.

Usually, all the temple corridors are closed during eclipses. However, the corridors of the Thiruvarur Lord Thegaraya temple will be open on Tuesday (8th November) and Maha Abhishekham will be performed as announced by the temple administration.
