The Thirumalai Tirupathi Devasthanam Board (TTD) has reported that devotees had to wait for up to 16 hours on Friday, December 22nd, to have the Darshan of Lord Venkateswara at the Tirupathi temple.
The influx of devotees to the Tirupathi Temple seeking the Darshan of Lord Venkateswara has surged, attributed to the ongoing half-yearly vacation and the celebration of Vaikunta Ekadasi.
In response to the situation, 31 rooms were provided to accommodate devotees on Friday, December 22nd. Furthermore, those seeking Dharma Darshan (devotees without tokens for Darshan) endured a 16-hour wait, while those with tickets for quick Darshan, paying Rs. 300, had to wait for 3-4 hours to have the Darshan of Lord Sri Venkateswara.
Devotees with free Darshan tokens experienced a 3-4 hour wait. Children under 12 years of age, along with their parents, and other devotees were allowed through the Alibiri route until 2.00 PM, with all devotees permitted until 10.00 PM.
On Thursday, December 21st, a total of 589,898 devotees had Darshan of Lord Sri Venkateswara, and 23,367 devotees opted for hair tonsure. The cash offerings collected in the Hundi from the devotees amounted to Rs. 4.91 Crores.
