The sacred occasion of Aadi Amavasya today 28th July! Devotees throng Agni Theertham at Rameswaram!

The sacred occasion when New Moon Day (known as Amavasya in the Hindu religion) falls in the Tamil Calendar month of Aadi occurs today (Thursday, 28th July)!
On this sacred occasion, the devotees thronged the `Agni Theertham` in Rameswaram to take the holy bath and then pray!
Rameswaram is considered to be one of the most religious special spots by the Hindus.
During the New Moon Day (Amavasya) in the Tamil Calendar months of Aadi and Thai, thousands of devotees take the holy bath at Agni Theertham in Rameswaram and offer their prayers and obeisance to their departed ancestors performing special `Thithi Tharpana Poojas` and offer their prayers as a long tradition!
This sacred Aadi Amavasya occasion falls today – Thursday, 28th July! As such, thousands of devotees, from various other districts of Tamil Nadu State and devotees from the other States of India have thronged the Agni Theertham in Rameswaram! They take the holy bath in Agni Theertham and perform special prayers and Poojas to their departed ancestors.
However, it rained heavily here right from the early morning 4.00 AM to 7.00 AM! The devotees never minded the rain and proceeded to take bath in Agni Theertham and the other holy water spots inside the Rameswaram temple even as they were drenched in the rain!
After the sacred bath, they stand in the long queue in the `Ratahaveethi Salai (Chariot procession road) of the Rameswaram temple to have the Darshan of the Lord!
