Top actors from the Tamil film industry, Vijay, Suriya and Dhanush, joined the bandwagon of celebrities protesting the jallikattu ban.

Vijay released a video statement in which he spoke against PETA. He also said that jallikattu was an important part of the identity of Tamilians. He said, I applaud all the youth who have had no ulterior motive as well as no political affiliations but have continued to protest against the ban on jallikattu.

Similarly, Suriya also released a statement. In it, he said, I am glad to see youngsters coming together, united by culture, history and identity. Organisations like PETA which rallied for the ban on jallikattu have lost their battle in the people’s court.

Dhanush tweeted saying I am proud of every Tamilian who has voiced his protest against the jallikattu ban. They would definitely emerge victorious.

Vikram released a statement that said, I want the traditional game to be brought back. There is no doubt that these protests will lead to victory.

Music composer and actor G.V. Prakaash participated in protests at Salem.
