Following one week of intense protest by youngsters and people all over Tamil Nadu regarding the Jallikattu ordinance, there seems to have been an unexpected twist. The State Government had passed Jallikattu ordinance on Saturday and in few places it was even hosted. But then, with the protest persisting with the demand claiming to be a permanent solution of lifting ban on Jallikattu, the situations got intense. This morning, huge league of cops arrived to the situation around 5.30 a.m. and both Chennai Police Commissioner S George and Deputy Commissioner Balakrishnan were present too.
Deputy Commissioner Balakrishnan delivered a short speech requesting the crowd to leave and that made some people with families, women and children vacating the venue for peaceful means. But then, some of the protestors retained their stand and were forcefully evicted. Some of them joining as human chain decided walking into sea.
Some of the women, especially pregnant ladies and kids were brutally attacked according to the reports and the ones raising slogans were pulled out from venue.
It is noteworthy that many schools and colleges were shut down for few days in accordance to this protest and now from Monday morning, they are back to normal operations. Education Minister Mafoi Pandiarajan interacting one of the media channels claimed that there are some anti-social elements happening at Marina Beach and most of the good will people moved out peacefully.
