Alanganallur jallikattu event commenced

On the festive occasion of the Pongal holidays, the traditional bravery event of the Tamil youth, Jallikattu is being conducted with pomp and grandeur in the district of Madurai.
 
Jallikattu was conducted with great enthusiasm on the day of Pongal (14th January, Sunday) in Avaniyapuram and Palamedu.
 
In this situation, the globally popular event of Jallikattu conducted in Alanganallur commenced today morning. Prior to the commencement of the event, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister E. Palanisamy read the Jallikattu oath of promise.
 
The Oath
 
"We undertake to promise that we ill celebrate Jallikattu while preserving our tradition and taking care that raging bulls participating in the event are not harmed. We will ensure there is no harm to the youth and the bulls participating in the event while strictly following the government rules and regulations.”
 
This oath was read by the Chief Minister while the Deputy Chief Minister, the other ministers, and the youth participating in the Jallikattu event undertook the oath.
 
After the oath-taking, the Chief Minister and the Deputy Chief Minister inaugurated the jallikattu event by flagging off at the Vadivasal.
 
1000 bulls are participating in today’s jallikattu event. 1241 youth are engaged. The event is conducted in all glory and splendour.
 
The youths who tame the bulls are to be awarded prizes including gold coins, motorcycle, bicycle, bureau (almirah), silver utensils, etc.
