Construction of third railway junction will get over by the end of March 2017, said general manager of southern railways, Vashishta Johri. After Chennai Central and Egmore railway stations, maximum traffic is observed in Tambaram.
In 2013, the construction works began in Eastern Tambaram alongside Bharathmatha Road at the rate Rs 33.28 crore. This junction will have 8 platforms, and 3 workstations for cleaning.
Vashishta Johri, the General Manager inspected the works done so far day before yesterday. Speaking at the inaugural event, he said the third junction will be ready by the end of this month.
Once trains are allotted, functioning will start from here. If new trains are to be functioned, extra railway compartments are needed and the necessary works are being done.
