It has been raining heavily in Andhra over the last few days. Due to this, the amount of water released through Ammapalli Dam has been increased. Thus, more water is being received for the Chennai Metro city reservoirs.

One of the 4 major reservoirs for the Chennai Metro, the water level of the Poondi reservoir has risen by 10 million cft to the present 150 million cft. In a similar way, the water inflow to the other major reservoirs – Puzhal, Chembarambakkam, and Cholavaram has also increased. The water level of these reservoirs has now crossed 903 million cft.

The water level of Chembarambakkam is now 318 million cft. The water level of Puzhal reservoir is now 354 million cft. The water level of Cholavaram reservoir is now 81 million cft.

Quite naturally, this news has come as a huge relief for the Chennai Metro citizens who have struggled to meet the demand for drinking water.
