In a recent announcement released by EPFO (Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation), from henceforth, if a PF account holding employee leaves one company to join another, there is no need to transfer the PF particulars to the new company.

With the recently implemented software, EPFO has rendered this changeover of PF account to the new company automatic.

When an employee joins a company, the company provides a UAN (Unique Account Number). With the newly implemented software, EPFO has now made this automatic in case the employee leaves and joins a new company for the account data to be transferred to the new company PF account.

However, EPFO has set certain rules and regulations for this automatic transfer system. It has announced that the automatic transfers will be done strictly as per these rules and regulations.

Auto transfer
When an employee joins a company and registers his UAN and Aadhar number when the UAN number is acceptable as furnished when changing over to the new company, the PF details will be transferred automatically.

Once Aadhar number and UAN are linked, it is ready for automatic transfers.

When an employee leaves a company, this company should furnish the details regarding the date of joining and date of leaving of the concerned employee and also the reason for leaving the company.

Though the employee UAN number is active, the mobile number is mandatory to be furnished.

In case the automatic transfer is facilitated, an E-mail and SMS will be sent to the concerned employee’s mobile number.

In case an employee prefers to do so, he can block the automatic transfer of PF data. This can be done online by using the official EPFO website online services and going to the option track claim status and picking the choice – stop auto-initiated claim cases.

The employee can also personally visit the EPFO office within 10 days after getting SMS/emails regarding the transfer.
