A rehearsal was conducted yesterday (Friday, 19th May) before the inauguration of the 50-metre long giant subway linking the Park town station and the Chennai Central Railway Station.
The subway will be declared for public use in 1 or 2 days.
The subway linking the above 2 stations has been constructed on behalf of the Chennai Metro Rail. The subway is about 50 metres long and 9 metres width.
Now, it is ready for public service. The officials conducted a rehearsal yesterday. The subway is set to be opened for public in 1 or 2 days.
The Chennai Metro Rail officials explained that a huge project at a cost of Rs. 400 Crores is in progress setting up the Chennai Central Metro Rail Station. The subway which existed earlier had been removed for this project work. Now, a new subway, of 9 metres width and 50 metres length, has been constructed. A rehearsal has been conducted. It will be opened for public service a few days later.
The balance work on one side of the subway is also being expedited for completion. This activity will not disturb the public movement.
