As a move to streamline all unauthorized plots and layouts dated before 20th October 2016, the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority has set up a new website that reads www.tnlayoutreg.in.

On this site, users can create unique user identity and password for tracking different stages of application.

The state had earlier announced a scheme for streamline all the housing plots that are unauthorized. This followed Madras High Court’s ban on unauthorized plot sale a few months ago. Following all these, the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority has now come up with the website.

The high court had announced the verdict and then the State government had notified Section 22 A(2) of Registration Act of 2009. This comes under the Tamil Nadu Regularization of Unapproved Layouts and Plots Rules, 2017 and the Tamil Nadu Change of Land Use Rules, 2017.

As per the modified section 22A of the Act, it explains the terms for transferring immovable properties as sale or marriage exchange or for lease.

There are two processes in regulation, says Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority. The first stage involves regularizing the layout by the CMDA or local planning authority or regional deputy directors of town and country planning department. All the examination works and in-principle issue will be done to the respective local body.
