It is likely that the Airports Authority of India will soon sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the Tamil Nadu Government. This which is to be held on Thursday will pave way for passengers to fly from Chennai to Salem, Mysuru and Puducherry.

Top sources from the AAI states that officials from AAI and the Ministry of Civil Aviation along with Civil Aviation Secretary R. N. Choubey shall arrive at the city for this meet up.

This signing of MoU is an integral move under Regional Connectivity Scheme intending to enhance air travel at tier 2 and tier 3 cities that includes Salem, Kadappa, Puducherry and Mysuru. The fare price will be Rs 2,500. About 50 percent of the total seats in the flight shall be made available under this cap.

Speaking about this, an official said that services in Puducherry shall begin by end of July. After one month of this, Mysuru will begin its service and Salem to follow this in September.

In spite of being a part of this project, Neyveli may take more time for implementing it. AAI is not functional in Neyveli. However, for RCS project, the necessary infrastructure will be developed following which operations shall begin.
