Starting from this academic year, the department of school education will have reduced number of working days for primary and upper primary students. Earlier, it was 220 days and now it is to be reduced to 210 days.  So, with this, students can enjoy 10 days of extra leave starting from the present academic year.

The annual planner for all schools states the last working day as 19th April. For extra 10 days from 20th April, training for primary and middle school teachers and headmasters are to be given. There will be 11 days enrollment campaign at government schools during May.

In case of high and higher secondary schools, the total working days is 200. However, for primary and middle school students, the working days is 220. Just like other classes, the government is set to reduce the working days to 200. However, this 10 days reduction is satisfactory, says R Doss, the general secretary, Thamizhaga Arambapalli Asiriyar Koottani.

Furthermore, the exam dates for all these classes starting from 1 to 12 were listed too. On 11th September, the first exam will begin for class 6 to 9, and for classes 10 to 12. Once the exams are over, holidays will start on 24th September.
