Parking of vehicles has been an issue at the Chennai central metro station till now. The reason for that is a parking lot has not been opened yet. This central metro station is Chennai city’s largest underground interchange metro station is known.

This parking issue would not be there in the future as CMRL has got plans to open underground parking space in the middle of January. At a given point of time, this underground parking space could hold as many as 100 cars and 300 two-wheelers

It was mentioned by an official of CMRL that glass panes were fixed at the entrance of the parking lot and it would be ready in another 15 days of time.

Point to be noted is Central metro started to function in the month of February 2019 when the last leg of 45 km phase-1 Washermenpet to AG-DMS via central metro was opened for the public.

The Central metro commuters now either leave their vehicles near the Ripon Buildings or at the central railway station.

The parking of vehicles has been a major problem for the first time commuters at the Central metro station as they are not aware of the absence of parking space. This was according to a commuter.
