Since the last week of March, beaches in Chennai like Marina beach etc have been closed due to the lock down to control the spread of Covid-19 infection. From today, the beaches would be reopened for the public. Following Covid-19 safety protocols is a must and for that the police department and GCC have been taking many steps now.
It must not be forgotten that at 3 pm on 21st March 2020 all the beaches in the Chennai were closed and GCC mentioned that the entry to the beaches would be stopped until further orders. The decision to close the beaches was taken because many people used to visit the beaches for their fitness and leisure.
It is known that restrictions on others were relaxed gradually in Chennai but not the entry to the beaches. Now, on the demand from the public, the government decided to reopen the beaches. It is now brought out that GCC would resume their initiatives for maintenance of Marina as well as other beaches. For improving the garbage clearance, more workers plus machines would be there in the beaches
