Heavy Rains in Tamil Nadu: Schools in Chennai and Nearby Districts Declared Holiday
Chennai and its neighboring districts, including Chengalpattu, Kancheepuram, and Tiruvallur, have declared a holiday for schools on December 12 due to continuous heavy rains. In addition, Villupuram, Thanjavur, Mayiladuthurai, Ramanathapuram, Dindigul, Cuddalore, and Pudukkottai districts have also announced holidays for schools.
Meanwhile, in Puducherry, both schools and colleges will remain closed on Thursday.
The weather disturbance, attributed to a well-marked low-pressure system over the southwest Bay of Bengal near the Sri Lanka coast, is expected to move west-northwest towards the Sri Lanka-Tamil Nadu coasts in the next 24 hours.
Several districts, including Chennai, Tiruvallur, Chengalpattu, Cuddalore, Nagapattinam, Ramanathapuram, Dindigul, and Madurai, are likely to receive heavy rain and have been placed under yellow warnings. Residents are advised to stay updated and take necessary precautions.
