Not all the people belonging to India use high tech smartphones!!
It is true that there are many people in our country who still use button type feature phones also. To help these feature phone users in India, TRAI or Telecommunication Regulatory Authority of India has now launched affordable recharge options. This would be of superb benefit ahd huge relief for more than 120 crore mobile phone users in India.
It is worthy to note that regulations include Rs 10 recharge plans with 365 days of validity and mandatory voice-only plans for dual SIM users. It is said that major telecommunication providers like Airtel, Vodafone, BSNL, Jio etc would adhere to the regulations.
Separate plans for feature phone users:
For voice as well as SMS services alone, TRAI has mandated the launch of distinct special tariff vouchers or STVs. By this, 2G feature phone users would benefit. It is now said that senior persons and those residing in the rural places of the country would be benefited.
Extended validity of STVs:
From the current 90 days, TRAI has increased the validity of STVs to 365 days. By this move, mobile phone users could get long term affordability and convenience etc.
Elimination of colour coding system for recharges etc:
For physical vouchers, TRAI has eliminated the colour coding system and it has simplified the recharges categorization. The objective behind this was to modernize the recharge process. It must be noted that the growing reliance on online recharge methods is being reflected by this move from TRAI.
It must be recalled that in the month of July the telecommunication companies increased recharge price plans. This created issues for many dual SIM users and feature phone users etc regarding keeping their SIM`s active. The superb piece of information is that TRAI has addressed these challenges by allowing the telecom operators to introduce affordable voice and SMS plans.
