Vanagaram Toll Plaza to Be Removed, New One at Thiruneermalai

The Vanagaram toll plaza on the Chennai Bypass (Madhavaram to Irumbuliyur) will be removed due to increasing urbanization and integration into the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC). A new toll plaza will be constructed near Thiruneermalai, with tenders already in process.
Additionally, a vehicular underpass (VUP) at Vanagaram will be built to ease congestion and improve safety, as heavy local traffic crossing the main carriageway has led to accidents. The new toll plaza is expected to be completed in six months, while the underpass will take about a year, with a combined project cost of ₹50 crore. The Chennai Bypass, which sees nearly 1 lakh vehicles daily, will benefit from improved traffic flow with these developments.
