Increase in stamp duty and registration fee by Tamil Nadu government

Sources from the Commercial Taxes and Registration department informs about a government order of increasing the stamp duty and registration fee on agreements related to deposit of title deeds by Rs 5,000 and Rs 1,000. The government announced the maximum ceiling limit on registration fee and stamp duty fixed as Rs 30,000 and Rs 6,000 for repayment loan within three months or beyond that time period.

For securing a loan the original title deeds with bank are registers on a two category stamp duty. Earlier the upper cap was Rs 25,000 and Rs 5,000 as stamp duty in registration. Now it has been increased with an upper cap of Rs 30,000 and Rs 6,000 as stamp duty.

Realty sectors are informing the minimal negative impact of the business with this new revised stamp duty and registration fee in taking small loans for the operations.
