GST (Goods & Sales Tax) will apply to all packed food items and the rent for Hospital Rooms will be applicable from today (Monday, 18th July)!
In the GST Council review meeting conducted last month under the Central Finance Minister Nirmala Seetharaman, it was decided to impose GST on certain packed food items and certain services!
Further, the GST for some items were revised!
All the above impositions and revisions will be effective today (Monday, 18th July).
Packed food items:
In this imposition, all packed food items and labelled food items (except frozen items), fish, cheese, honey, dried vegetables, frozen Makhana, wheat flour and other grains, and dairy items including milk & curd, will have a GST of 5%!
The GST for some stationery items such as knives, paper-knife, Pencil sharpeners, ladles, forks, skimmers, cake servers, LED lamps, ink, and painting/drawing items has been increased from 12% to 18%!
Similarly, the GST imposed on Washing machines, sorting machines, seeds, cereals/pulses, grinders, pavan Chakki, and wet grinders has been increased from 5% to 18%!
GST for Solar Water Heater is increased from 5% to 12%.
Bank Cheques will also be charged GST of 18%!
Apart from this, maps, charts, Hydrographic or related drawings/maps, world maps, wall-paintings, land schemes, globes (earth) and all other explanatory pictures will have a GST of 12%!
Daily Hotel rents of up to Rs. 1000/- will be levied a GST of 12%. Hospital rooms and Intensive Care Units which charge more than Rs. 5000/- per day will have a GST of 5%. Organisms and medical waste cleaning facilities will be charged with a GST of 12%.
Electric vehicle tracks, bridges, Railway Metro, drainage purification systems and cremation grounds services/contracts will have a revised GST of 18% from 12%!
Meanwhile, for electric vehicles with or without batteries, a 5% concession on GST is given!
The GST on rents for freight vehicles, including fuel price, is reduced from 18% to 12%!
Apart from this, the revised GST on various items and services will also be implemented from today (Monday, 18th June).
