CMRL Submits DPR for Metro Rail Extension from Koyambedu to Pattabiram (ORR)
The Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has submitted the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the Koyambedu–Pattabiram (Outer Ring Road) Metro extension to the Government of Tamil Nadu. The report was presented by Thiru. M.A. Siddique, I.A.S., Managing Director of CMRL, to Thiru. Dr. K Gopal, I.A.S., Additional Chief Secretary, at the Secretariat in Chennai on February 21, 2025.

Estimated Cost: ₹9,744 Crores (including three integrated flyovers)

Starts from: Koyambedu Metro Station
Passes through: Padi Pudhu Nagar, Mugappair, Ambattur, Thirumullaivoyal, Avadi
Ends at: Pattabiram (Outer Ring Road)
Key Integrations:
- Seamless connectivity to Ambattur Estate & OT, Avadi Railway Station & Bus Terminus, and ORR
- Flyover integration at Ambattur Estate Bus Depot, Dunlop, and Avadi Bus Stand to optimize cost and project timeline
This extension aims to enhance urban connectivity and reduce travel time for commuters in Chennai’s western corridor.
