Mersal collection surpasses that of Kabali and Vivegam

There is for sure a soar in the box-office collection of the recent release - Mersal, the Vijay starrer. In spite of various controversies around the film, it has managed to receive applauds not only from Vijay fans and audience, but the other leading stars in Tamil film industry including Kamal Hassan and Rajinikanth.
Coming on to the box office numbers of the film, one can undoubtedly say Mersal to top the list as the biggest Diwali release this year. In Tamil Nadu alone, the film Mersal has made up to Rs 76 crore. Right on the first day of release in the global market, the film had grabbed over Rs 43.50 crore. The first day collection has surpassed that of Rajini starrer Kabali and Ajith starrer Vivegam, as Mersal has made Rs 1.50 crore on the date of release.
With Mersal, all the earlier records set by Vijay films have got broke. Well, the film is also a smart hit with its collection in Singapore, Australia, Malaysia France, and New Zealand, and several other countries. Altogether, the total collection is more than Rs 150 crore. So, by the end of second week of its release, the film is likely to grab over Rs 200 crore.
In his Twitter post, the MD of Vettri Theatre, Chennai has stated that on the 6th day of Mersal release, there are 7 shows being run in Vettri and Rakesh theatres all of which run house full.
