To facilitate the students to pursue 2 courses at the same time, University Grants Commission or UGC has issued another reminder to the Higher Educational Institutions or HEIs to implement the guidelines now.
The UGC secretary Mr. Manish R Joshi has noted that more than 2 years have elapsed since the issuance of the guidelines and many reminders were sent by the commissioners in this time. Inspite of many reminders, the universities haven`t provided 2 course facilities for the students.
In enrolling in the 2 academic programmes at the same time, many students continue to face issues. This was mainly due to HEIs insisting on the submission of the migration certificates or school leaving certificates for the purpose of admissions. This was mentioned by Mr. Manish Joshi. Point to be noted is that this criteria or requirement would limit the ability of the students to secure admission in 2 courses and it undermines the purpose of guidelines.
In April 2022 itself the UGC issued guidelines permitting the students to pursue 2 academic courses simultaneously. He concluded that the HEIs were requested to establish mechanisms through their statutory bodies to help the students to avail of the opportunities.
