Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has awarded the Operation and Maintenance contract for its 118.9 km Phase II network to Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) at a gross cost of ₹5,870 crore. The agreement covers three corridors—C3 (Madhavaram Milk Colony to Siruseri SIPCOT II), C4 (Lighthouse to Poonamallee Bypass), and C5 (Madhavaram Milk Colony to Sholinganallur)—along with maintenance depots at Madhavaram, Poonamallee, and Semmancheri.
The Letter of Acceptance (LoA) was handed over by Thiru. M.A. Siddique, Managing Director of CMRL, to Dr. Vikas Kumar, MD of DMRC, on April 2, 2025, in the presence of senior officials from both organizations. The contract, initially for 12 years, is extendable by three more years based on performance. DMRC will ensure global standards in passenger services and asset maintenance.
