Who would have imagined that one day Mohammad Shami would be the highest wicket taker for India in the world cup?
Indian fast bowler Mohammad Shami has made many to sit up and take notice of his bowling skills now. In the match that took place between India and Sri Lanka on Thursday2nd November in Mumbai, Md Shami took 5 wickets for just 18 runs. The Sri Lankan batsmen did not have any clue and succumbed to the wiles and gules of Shami. In the end, India won the match easily.
In the Odi world cups till now, Shami has taken 45 wickets after playing just 14 matches. The sensational piece of information is that he has taken 45 wickets at an average below 13 at a strike rate below 16. With 45 wickets, Shami overtook former Indian paceman Zaheer Khan. It is known that Zaheer Khan took 44 wickets in the world cups after playing 24 matches.
The highest wicket taker in the world cup is Glenn McGrath of Australia with 71 wickets. It is now expected that Md Shami would soon go above 50 wickets in the coming matches and become the one and only bowler from India to get 50 wickets in the world cups.
