The Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) announced on Wednesday that passengers attending the IPL qualifier 2 and final at MA Chidambaram Stadium on May 24 and 26 (Friday and Saturday) will need to pay for their travel.
During the IPL league matches, MTC allowed passengers to travel for free by showing their online or pre-printed match tickets to the conductor. This service operated from Anna Square Bus Stand, Madras University Bus Stop, and Anna Salai near Omandurar Government Hospital. Fare-free travel was permitted up to three hours after the game ended.
However, for the semi-final on May 24 and the final on May 26, passengers will need to pay for their tickets to Chepauk Stadium.
