As the lockdown has been extended again until 3rd May, it is gathered that IPL (Indian Premier League) will be postponed indefinitely. The 13th Season of IPL was scheduled to start on 20th March.
With the Coronavirus pandemic spread and the major preventive action against its spreading for a lockdown imposition until 14th April, IPL could not start as scheduled. Further, visa activities were also closed. So, players from other countries could not participate. So, at that time, awaiting the reduction of the coronavirus situation, it was postponed till 15th April planning to conduct the IPL mostly in the state of Maharashtra in a lesser period.
However, Maharashtra is the state where the maximum number of persons is affected in the country! The affected number of persons was 519 at the start of the lockdown, it has now increased to 10,815! Hence, the Prime Minister announced the extension of the lockout imposition until 3rd May.
Subsequently, it is gathered that BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) has decided to postpone IPL indefinitely. However, no final decision has been announced yet in this regard.
BCCI circle explained that there was no other option except to postpone under the lockdown imposition - a decision will be taken after a review.
The player from Chennai Super Kings, Graeme Watson said, ‘I believe that the 13th IPL series will be definitely conducted. I am eagerly awaiting to play again for Chennai Super Kings!’
