When students belonging to the age 13 and 14 would normally be busy completing their assignments or preparing for their examinations or spending time with their friends etc , two students of age 13 and 14 have created a sensational record at the World Youth Scrabble Championships now!! Incredible isn`t it!!
The World Youth Scrabble Championship took place from 6th to 8th September 2024 in Sri Lanka. This has grabbed the attention of many and is being spoken in huge esteem. It is worthy to note that 2 Indian students for the very first time have broken into the top 5. In this, 2 Indian students 14 yr old Suyash Manchalo and 13 yr old Madhav Gopal Kamath age 13 came in the top 5 out of 136 students.
The students performed amazingly to finish at second and fourth place respectively in the championship. The superb piece of information is that the achievements of these 2 young boys were India`s best ever finish at scrabble championships. The Indian contingent had 13 players (9 boys and 4 girls) and they all did superbly.
Important piece of information is that Chennai based Triambak Eashwar got 17th place in the championships. Mumbai based Aarush Jatwani got 20th place and 27th place was secured by Ahana Goyal from Delhi.
The Scrabble Association of India mentioned in a FB post that team India has achieved its best ever performance at World Youth Scrabble Championships. The association expressed its happiness regarding two students Suyash (2nd place) and Madhav (4th place) entering top 5 among 136 players of the annual competition.

It is noteworthy that this championship is being conducted by WESPA or World English Language Scrabble Players Association on an annual basis. In this championship, most talented scrabble players from across the world take part.
The city of Bengaluru can feel happy and proud now that its resident Suyash (a class 10 student belonging to MES Kishore Kendra Public School) came in the top 5. He was inspired by his mother Subha who is a teacher and an avid scrabble player. It must be taken into account that this mother son duo practise every day honing their skills in vocabulary and strategy etc.
New Delhi based Madhav Gopal Kamath, a class 9 student belonging to Sanskriti School is now a top ranked youth scrabble player. It must be recalled that at the Goa Open in 2024, 13 yr old Madhav made many heads turn when he became the youngest winner.
